Can you improve on this classic?

Announcing the Martini Glass Design Competition, joint sponsored by Boyd & Blair Vodka, The Pittsburgh Glass Center, and Pittsburgh Magazine! This is a really cool competition - literally. Your goal is to design a glass to keep a chilled martini cold through a full conversation.

In support of this event, Western PA IDSA would like to host a research and networking workshop where interested design professionals, students and others can learn about glass techniques from a Glass Center. There's even the off chance that you will see a glass blowing demonstration. In support of IDSA's mission, we would also like to encourage pairings of students and professionals for the contest in the spirit of collaboration and mentorship.

Where? Pittsburgh Glass Center
When? Tuesday July 13th, 6:30pm

Competition details: click here

The event is open to everyone, so bring a friend!

Hope to see you there!!!

Dozen Recap

What a great first event in our new 'Innovator's Series'! James and Andrew were wonderful hosts, providing some awesome treats (I sampled the lemon-basil and chai cupcakes, which were incredible) and their signature coffee. Dozen is one of those businesses which very consciously tailor every aspect of their business model to interact responsibly with their customers and their local community. From top to bottom, every detail is carefully considered and weighed against their socially respectful business model. And though James and Andrew might not consider their story inspiring, I came away very impressed with their openness, candor, intelligence and commitment to the local community. Keep in mind, what they do oh so well is sell great cupcakes and other sundries. Check them out when you can, or better yet make them part of your daily or weekly routine. You won't be disappointed.
